I love travelling. Wanderlust has something that has bitten me and I’ve managed to survive a few long haul flights. Coming up to my trip to Florida I’ve been preparing for the flight over, so I’ve decided to share with you my tips and tricks on how to survive a long haul flight.
1. Little bag of tricks.
|Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water, Nivea Cream, Nivea Sun Protect lip balm & La Roche- Posay Eau Thermale.
I’ve learnt over the years not to wear make up on flight journeys. Flying has a tendency to dry out your skin and make up doesn’t help either. I fly with a fresh face but even at that after a few hours my skin doesn’t feel great. So I popped a cleanser, moisturiser, lip balm and hand cream into a clear bag and voila they’re easily accessed throughout the flight.
2. Comfy Clothes
I see a lot of bloggers write posts about how to dress stylishly while flying. To be frank after 6+ hours on a plane the last thing I’m worried about is if my dress is creased. I opt for comfort so grab a pair of leggings and your comfiest hoodie!
3. Your own earphones
Usually airlines provide earphones but I always think they sit awkwardly in your ears. Bring your own earphones not only will you be more comfortable but the sound quality will be better.
4. A light read
I love the fact you can sit and watch movies on the flight but it’s always good to take a break from screens. Pick up a magazine in the airport or get stuck into a book you’ve been meaning to read. No better time! I’m dying to get my hands on the girl on the train.
5. Invest in a travel pillow
For ultimate comfort buy a travel pillow. It helps when you want to sleep 🙂
6. Make a playlist
Whether it be Spotify, audio tube or simply your iPod playlists are great. I love making playlists it’s all my favourite songs in one place which means I don’t have to skip every five minutes!
7. Stay Hydrated
Most important of all my tips is probably this one. Can’t stress enough how much better you feel when you’re hydrated. So drink loads of water!
So there you have it let me know what your tips are in the comments!
Until next Wednesday,
Dry shampoo is amazing when you don’t have time to wash your hair but did you know you can save a whole five minutes if you pop it in your hair the night before? Just spray it in your hair and let it set over night. Then you’ll wake with a lovely clean hair!
Toothbrushes are great for obvious reasons but did you know they could keep your lips smooth too?
Simply grab a clean spare toothbrush and brush it in the circular motions across your lips. It gets rid of dry skin.
Homemade Lip Scrub
I’ve made this scrub a few times and it lasts a good while. Mix brown sugar or any sugar that you have in the press (as long as it’s granulated) with honey. Plop it into a small jar or cup and rub it onto your lips. I pop mine in the fridge to keep it fresh!
Peach shade concealer
As a pale gal you can instantly pick out when I have blemishes or if I haven’t slept a wink! For years I used only concealer that matched my skin that is until recently. I bought a peach based concealer and popped it under my eyes. Voila, my suitcases dimmed and I looked more awake.
Has anyone ever pointed out that you have lipstick on your teeth (guilty). Never let anyone point it out again with this weapon. Make an ‘o’ shape with your lips and putting your index finger in your mouth then pulling it out. You’ll notices your hand is making a shape like a gun and you can bet you won’t have lippy on your teeth.
The Black Stuff
Guinness makes your hair darker. I wrote a full review about this here: http://makeupdontfakeup.blogspot.ie/2014/05/guinness-myth-or-miracle.html
Vaseline as a highlighter !
Dab a little vaseline onto the tops of your cheeks and boom you have a lovely healthy glow! Handy for when you don’t have a highlighter in your handbag or for the natural look 🙂
Hairspray is not only for your mane
Grab your spooly and spritz a little of your hairspray on it. Then brush it through your brows and they’ll stay in place all day.
So there you have it my beauty hacks,
Until next Wednesday! Lots of love,
Alexa Chung is fast becoming one of the most influential women in the fashion industry. Her famous locks paired with her quirky style has attracted attention from both the fashion critics and everyday girls like me. Type her name in to google and you won’t be long finding pictures of her front row beside fashions most influential contributors. To top it all off, her book ‘It’ where she describes her inspirations is a best seller.
However, the question really is ‘Can we pull off the Alexa look without emptying our bank accounts?’ The answer? Well, we can certainly try!
I’ve pulled three of my favourite looks and found budget friendly alternatives.
