Disney Princess Series – Jasmine.

I’ve been a very bad blogger, as some of you may have noticed I did not post last week but hopefully this makes up for it. If you have been following my blog over the last few weeks you will have noticed that I’ve been focusing on Disney princesses and recreating their makeup looks. This week is no exception and probably one of the hardest and looks to recreate. Luckily, I know a tanned goddess who was happy to step in and play the role of Jasmine. This is the last post of the princess series but closer to halloween I’ll be creating more Disney characters looks!

My dear friend Eilín sat as my model. Look below to achieve the Jasmine look.

First I primed the eyes with Urban Decay’s Primer Potion. Then I used clinque lid smoothie as a base.

I lightly blended a brown colour into the crease for depth.

Before patting on a teal colour I used a fluffy eyeshadow brush and blended Inglot’s 335 eyeshadow which is an orange colour, into the crease!

Then I patted on a teal colour from no7’s Jewel palette. I love this colour it’s so vibrant 🙂

I wanted to make the eye look as dramatic as possible so I used a black eye and blended it very well into the outer corner of the eye!

Feeling that there was something missing I took a gold eyeshadow and blended it into the crease from the middle of the socket to the outer edge.

For the final step of the eye look I added Liner both on top and bottom of the eye. To finish I took the same teal colour that I used on the lid and outlined underneath the bottom eyelashes.

Foundation and Concealer

Using a stippling brush I blended Vichy’s Dermablend Total Body Corrective Foundation into Eilín skin. I then concealed under her eyes and blemishes using L’oréal Paris Visible lift blur concealer corrector.

I set the foundation and concealer with Rimmel Stay Matt Powder in Translucent!

Lip, contour and highlight

For the lipstick because I used the lipstick Max Factor Ruby Tuesday.

I highlighted the bridge of Eilín’s nose and her cupid’s bow.

Then I used the same highlight along the top of the cheekbone. Then I used hoola a matt bronzer from Benefit to contour in a 3 formation.

I also filled Eilín’s eyebrows using Milani Easybrow in the shade Dark Brown.

How to fake, fake lashes.

Fake eyelashes are great way to make your eye make up more dramatic. I have been using fake eyelashes for years and I think I’ve mastered the technique of application but I always forget one thing. I never remember to buy them!

Frequently, I’ll be going out with my friends or to a family event and I want to add to my look but I never remember to buy them.

So, I scoured the internet looking for ways to make my eyelashes fuller and longer and I came across a little secret make-up artists use. Baby powder. Yes, you read that correctly.

It gets a little messy so wait until after your lash is done to apply your foundation! I used my sister Aoife to demonstrate 🙂

What you need

1. Mascara

2. Baby Powder

3. Cotton Buds

So here’s how I did it!

1. Curl your eyelashes using an eyelash curler.

2. Apply a few coats of mascara. At the moment I’m using Better than Sex mascara by Too Faced and I’m loving it!

3. Then grab a cotton bud and apply the baby powder on both sides of the lashes.

4. Then apply your mascara and if you have a disposable mascara even better!

5. You’ll notice that your eyelashes are thicker and fuller.

The finished look…

With a little practice you should be able to perfect this trick!

I thought I would share one of my favourite night time makeup looks using the Naked Palette 3, so following these steps you can achieve this look! Thanks to my little sis Aoife, for being brave enough to put her naked face on the web (you go girl!). I’ll start with the base tutorial but you can skip further down for the eyeshadow tutorial!

Base Tutorial

Make sure you have moisturised before applying primer. I used Gosh Classic Foundation Primer all over and Benefit’s The Porefessional on her nose and chin. Porefessional is great for blemishes but lucky Aoife has great skin!

2. Aoife has redness along her cheeks and nose. I used Max Factor CC Colour Corrector along her cheek and on the front of her nose to help conceal the redness. This is great when blended with foundation! I then used Makeup Academy’s Pro base Prime and Conceal, using the peach colour I concealed her under eyes!

3. From there I mixed L’Oréal Paris True Match foundation in Rosy Ivory and MakeUp Academy’s Illuminating Foundation in Porcelain together. I used Real Techniques Stippling Brush to buff it into the skin.

4. I then used Topshop’s Glowstick on the upper cheek bone, along the brow bone, the temples, the bridge of her nose and her cupid’s bow. Then using a clean sponge I blended it into the skin.

5. Using a blush brush, I dabbed Makeup Academy’s Cream Blush in Yummy on her cheeks blended it out after I dabbed the stippling brush along the cheek so the colour wouldn’t be too strong.

6. I set her foundation lightly with Rimmel London’s Clear Complection Clarifying Powder in the colour 021 Transparent. This powder is good because it minimises breakouts and controls shine!

6. Using Barry M’s eyebrow duo in the Colour Medium, I filled her eyebrows, (My new favourite eyebrow product).

Eye Tutorial

1. Prime the eyes. I used Urban Decay’s Primer Potion and it’s the best primer I’ve found. Your eyeshadow is guaranteed to stay in place and not crease.

2. I applied the colour Buzz all over the lid and Trick on the inner lid.

3.Using a fluffy real techniques shading brush I blended Nooner into the crease.

4. I then used the same Darkside on the outer corner of the eye in a v shape.

5. I used dust on the inner lid and to finish it off used Buzz on the lower lash line

6. Then using your favourite eyeliner, wing it out! I used Essence Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner .

7. I curled her eyelashes with an eyelash curler and Urban Decay’s Perversion as mascara.

Lips

I used Rimmel London’s Apocalips Lip Lacqeur in shade Celestial.

So this is the finished look, doesn’t she look gorgeous 🙂

The London Eye

As you can probably guess from the title of the post, I hopped over the pond to London last weekend! I had amazing time and I decided to indulge myself 😉 Some of the stuff I bought was on my list of things to try and other products were bought on a whim!

After doing some touristy stuff like a cruise on the river Thames (definitely worth a visit!), I headed towards Oxford street, which was manic. So I decided to shop in a quieter shopping district that was closer to where I was staying. I wandered into my favourite drug store, Superdrug in the Brunswick Shopping Centre.

Unfortunately the Superdrug website wouldn’t let me know how much these products were in Euro 🙁 I wrote the prices in pounds to give you an idea how much I spent.

These are some of the things I picked up!

Barry M. Nail Polish

Ballerina,Grapefruit,Berry Cosmo.

Who doesn’t love a good nail polish! They instantly brightens your skin and I thought I’d pick up some new colours for Spring. I choose Ballerina, Grapefruit and Berry Cosmo. Grapefruit is my favourite because it is a Gelly High Shine Nail Paint and it gives you the nail salon finish.

I love Barry M because their nail polish is long lasting and of great quality. I paid £2.99 for Ballerina and Berry Cosmo and £3.99 for Grapefruit!

2. Make up Academy Illuminating Foundation

Highlighters excite me and with Spring coming, I can’t wait for the dewy skin look. This foundation has quite a light coverage so I mix it with a matte foundation for a fuller effect. It’s also great for the daily make up application because it’s not to heavy on the skin.

You can’t really go wrong especially for it’s price!I bought this beauty for £2, such a steal!

3. Max Factor Facefinity All Day Primer

Primer is a key factor in make up application. It not only makes the base flawless but it extends the wear of your foundation.

The best thing about this is that the primer has SPF 20 in it! This is a necessity for the warmer months that are on the way because you really need to protect your skin! I bought this primer for £7.99!

4. Makeup Academy Blush Perfection Cream Blush

Yummy

Coming up to Summer and the weather getting warmer, cream blushes are great for the long lasting look! I’m really excited to wear this cream blush in the shade Yummy. It looks really natural and goes well with MUA’s Illuminating Foundation!

When applying I recommend keeping your foundation brush or beauty blender close by, so that you can blend the colour as it is quite strong.

The blusher was £1.50!

5. Real Techniques Shading Brush

I’ve always believed in investing in good make up brushes. With a good brush your make up can turn out 100% better ( trust me if i could advise my 13 y/o self I would). Real techniques have a great reputation of having high quality brushes at fairly affordable prices. If anyone asks me what brushes to invest in, I recommend them.

Pixiwoo the make up Guru’s swear by them and have a hand in creating them! I decided to invest in the eye shading brush and have no regrets since, it’s just as the famous as the MAC 217 brush. Superdrug have a great deal on at the moment, if you buy one brush you get a second half price. So, if you’re looking to add to your brush collection or even starting out, these are brilliant!

6. Barry M Eyebrow duo in Medium

I really love eyebrow duos because they’re handy to carry around and it makes your eyebrows look lovely and natural.

This Barry M one is great to throw into the handbag for touch ups and is also great for the no make up look! I think this is going to become one of my favourites

7. Make up Academy Lipstick in Juicy

I wanted to try a different shade of lipstick from my usual red’s and burgundy’s and steer towards more of a neutral colour! I was really unwilling to spend a lot of money on a lipstick until I definitely decided I liked a lighter colour. I was pleasantly surprised when I tried this lipstick. The pigment is crazy good and also it’s fairly long lasting. I didn’t have to reapply for a few hours which was great!

I really like the lipstick because it goes well with the day look, something I wasn’t sure of! This was less than£4 great value!

As far as I know, Superdrug outlets are in the following places in the Republic of Ireland; Dublin – Tallaght and Swords, Limerick, Wexford and Letterkenny in Donegal. So that’s it folks, I spent a around £40/ €53 (according to Google’s Currency Converter)!

Penneys aka Primark have released there Spring 2015 line and it looks amazinggg!

Prints, Pastels and Platform Sandles are just some of the things that you can see throughout the line. The longer I look at the pieces the theme becomes clearer, Oriental. So I’m making a prediction Kimonos will be around another summer! I can’t wait for the line to come out in stores so I can get my hands on some of these pieces. So without further ado…..
